01 · Pricing
Two quotes for the same itinerary can differ by a factor of three, and almost all of that difference sits in two lines.
A safari quotation is built from park and concession fees, accommodation, the vehicle and fuel, the guide, and internal flights. Of those, park fees are fixed by government and identical for everyone. Accommodation and vehicle occupancy are where the variation lives.
Our current rates are To confirm. What we can do now is explain the structure, so that when a rate card does arrive you can read it — and read anyone else’s.
02 · Detail
The five lines in every quote
Park and concession fees — fixed, and large
Charged per person per day, set by TANAPA and the NCAA, with a separate per-vehicle crater service fee at Ngorongoro. Nobody discounts these and they are usually the single biggest line.
Accommodation — the biggest variable
The same route can be run camping or at the top of the market. This is where a three-fold price difference comes from, not from the driving.
Vehicle and fuel — divided by however many are in it
A vehicle costs the same with one passenger or six. This is why per-person prices fall so sharply as a party grows, and why joining trips are cheap.
Guide — a day rate, plus their costs
Salary, food and accommodation on the road. A cheap safari is often cheap here, and it shows.
Internal flights — optional, and often worth it
Flying one leg instead of driving saves a day. Compare the flight cost against a wasted day and a night of accommodation before dismissing it.
